Danielle Louise Maas (she/her) is a writer and director, based on Wangal country in Australia and working primarily in opera and theatre. She has been awarded a Sydney Fringe Festival Award for Excellence in Devised Work and the Sandra Bates Directing Award at the Ensemble Theatre. Her nominations include two APRA AMCOS Art Music Awards for Dramatic Work of the Year, and a Highly Commended appraisal from Varuna, Australia’s foremost literary institution, for her current play in development.

Danielle has worked on developments and productions in creative capacities for the Sydney Opera House, Opera Australia, Bell Shakespeare, Circa, City of Sydney, Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Carriageworks, Sydney Chamber Opera, Ensemble Offspring, Hayes Theatre Company, Ensemble Theatre Company, Q Theatre, Old Fitz Theatre, KXT, Old 505 Theatre, PACT, New Theatre, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Biennale of Sydney, Sydney Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Sydney Fringe Festival, Sydney Architecture Festival, Camden People’s Theatre, and Hampstead Garden Opera, London. She holds a MA (Distinction) from the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, and currently teaches BFA and MFA students at NIDA.
